Storm Riders: The Drake Eatery and Craft Beer Parlour

The Storm Riders series aims to celebrate the strength of our industry while highlighting some of the many ways businesses have overcome the challenges resulting from COVID-19. We are proud to showcase how the following businesses have adapted while celebrating the people who are at the heart of what we do. In this post, we hear from Mike Spence at The Drake Eatery and Craft Beer Parlour in Victoria.

Why do you do what you do?

Lee and I really love food and beverage…especially in a social environment. Our hope is that we create a unique and inviting food and beverage experience in a welcoming space.

What is your hope for the future of our region?

That we can soon return to having safe social interactions again.

What do you most want people to know about your business?

We want everyone to feel safe and welcome in our businesses.

In your own words, please share “Travel matters because … “

It gives us all a better understanding of each other and enriches our lives.

Other than your own business, what are 3 other businesses in your community that visitors should experience?

  1. Olo
  2. Hey Happy
  3. Whistle Buoy

The spark to own/work in this business must motivate you each day. – what are some of your past experiences that have contributed to this spark?

We certainly feed off the enthusiasm of our staff. Also, after being open for six years and to still hear customers tell us what a ‘special place’ the Drake is, we are motivated to keep it going…even through these very challenging times.
