Why do you do what you do?
CREATIVITY- the imagination & the artistic skills on which I base my daily life on. There is no better feeling than watching a customer come to the food truck and enjoy our traditional creation. Example- Salmon burger served on Bannock bread with a stinging nettle aioli & roof top green.
What do you most want people to know about your business?
The Songhees Seafood & Steam food truck is the first Indigenous food truck in B.C. & Vancouver Island.
The food truck opened in 2016 & we are also a training facility, a catering company & we have a rooftop garden. The foundation is there to bring our traditional food to the next
level.
The spark to own/work in this business must motivate you each day. – what are some of your past experiences that have contributed to this spark?
When I first started to work in the hospitality industry I was the only first nation person working in the kitchen I have been in this industry for over 20 years, it is exhilarating to work in a kitchen with family & friends. I truly believe this is what drives me to do the best that I can. Thank you to Songhees for the opportunity to work on a food truck & the catering company.
