A Peek Inside The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa: An Urban Resort Getaway

Minutes away from downtown Victoria is The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa: the capital region’s premier golf, spa, and recreation destination. Nestled on the hillside of Mount Finlayson, guests enjoy far-reaching views of the mountain range and exceptional outdoor recreation close at hand, all wrapped in an upscale resort aesthetic. The 1,300-acre property is a natural wonder of rocks, rivers, valleys, forest, and mountain peaks with two courses at its heart.

World-Class Golf With West-Coast Views

The resort offers a double-feature of two signature Nicklaus Design courses: the Mountain Course and the Valley Course, each boasting undulating terrain surrounded by rocks, rivers, valleys, forests, and mountain peaks. Its the perfect harmony of manicured course design paired with an authentic, west-coast setting that’s unique to this world-class location.

The Mountain Course

Carved into the natural slope of the hillside, this course features challenging elevation changes and features and is considered to be the more technical of the two. This par 71 course delights with panoramic mountain, city, and ocean views with 18 holes that couldn’t be more true to its name. On the 10th hole, you’ll find a full-service Comfort Station with beautiful waterfall tucked in the background. On clear days, you can even see all the way to Mount Baker in Washington State.

The Valley Course

Added in 2009, the Valley Course is slightly more forgiving. Also a par 71, this course meanders through forests, borders lakes, and traverses creeks as it winds through its tranquil, valley setting.

Bear Mountain is part of Pacific Links International program which includes upwards of 390 clubs from across the globe.

Other Golf Amenities

  • Driving range
  • PGA certified instructors
  • GPS powered carts
  • Club valet/cleaning/storage
  • Day lockers

Having two courses to play on the same property makes Bear Mountain a popular choice among golfers, but there is so much more to love about this unique resort.

Exceptional Tennis Facilities

New to Bear Mountain in 2018 is Canada’s largest, state-of-the-art red clay tennis centre for year-round use. In the summer, play from dawn ‘til dusk and take advantage of concierge service while resting between rounds. From late-September through April, an outdoor bubble is installed to offer heated shelter and illuminated gameplay on four courts with the same attention to detail and concierge service.
