Storm Riders: Kwa’lilas Hotel

The Storm Rider series aims to celebrate the strength of our industry while highlighting some of the many ways businesses have overcome the challenges resulting from COVID-19. We are proud to showcase how the following businesses have adapted while celebrating the people who are at the heart of what we do. In this post, we hear from the Kwa’lilas Hotel in Port Hardy.

What do you most want people to know about your business?

That we are more than a hotel, We are a community, We are slowing growing every day, from our pub Nax’id to having a coffee shop now and a patio. Learning our culture and working on learning the language again before it is lost.

In your own words, please share “Travel matters because … ”

Without travel, there would be no business left, we need travellers to support our business and support our economy. We love sharing our community with travellers that have never been to the island, sharing where we all came from, our local businesses, our parks our ocean.

Other than your own business, what are 3 other businesses in your community that visitors should experience?

My favourite business to visit is Cafe Guido’s they have an amazing cafe + gift shop you can find something for everyone there. The Cove has the best selection of casual clothing always awesome sales and new items. The Clothes Inn, has everything you can think of from baby to adult clothes. My favourite thing to do is shop locally.
