3 Big Reasons To Visit Mount Washington This Summer

Don’t let the summer pass you by without at least one trip up to Mount Washington Alpine Resort!

The New Ziplines

Mount Washington doesn’t have just one, but four ziplines that together create the Eagle’s Flight Zip Tour. The full tour features two parallel cables, so you can enjoy the zip with your best friend or loved one. In total, you’ll soar down 2,313 meters and drop a total of 415 metres. It’s recommended to pre-book your tour as group sizes are limited.

The Ziplines are available everyday until September 7th, then Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from September 8th until October 11th.

Bike Park

Whether it’s your very first time on a mountain bike or you’re ready to shred the steep, rocky tech trails, Mount Washington is the place to be! The resort has made considerable investments in their trails over the past few seasons and it shows, resulting in more variety and something for every level of rider. The Bike Park is the only lift-accessible riding on Vancouver Island, and its conveniently open every day throughout the Summer until September 7th, then it changes to Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from September 8th until September 27th.

The bike park also has a small rental fleet, so not having your own equipment is no problem! They can hook you up with everything you need, including the bike, helmet, and protection. To ensure there’s a bike available for you, be sure to book in advance through Mount Washington’s website.

Hiking & Sightseeing

Take advantage of the resort’s chairlifts to whisk you into the alpine! Step aboard the wood platform near the top of the Eagle chair to see far-reaching views of the coastal mountain range and Pacific Ocean. Then, take the chairlift back or hike down along Linton’s Trail or the West Summit Ridge if you prefer a more advanced descent.

While you’re up there, keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Vancouver Island Marmot!
