Storm Riders: Mount Arrowsmith Brewing Company

The Storm Riders series aims to celebrate the strength of our industry while highlighting some of the many ways businesses have overcome the challenges resulting from COVID-19. We are proud to showcase how the following businesses have adapted while celebrating the people who are at the heart of what we do. In this post, we hear from Matt Hill at Mount Arrowsmith Brewing Company in Parksville.

Why do you do what you do?

Oh man, for so many reasons. But I’d have to say the main reason is the people. This industry is truly amazing in its diversity and kinship right cross the board. In a small brewery like ours, and many across the Island, your team members become family and the customers you meet along the way truly shape the business into a great realm of positivity, forward-thinking, and community involvement. It really is just a great industry to be apart of.

What do you most want people to know about your business?

We’re a family business, through and through. With 3 generation involvement (and more on the way) we’re proud to have been a part of our community for so long and feel it helps shape our business, direction, and attitude every day.

Other than your own business, what are 3 other businesses in your community that visitors should experience?

There’s a ton to choose from in this area! Picking only three is tough but some of the good ones are Cuckoos Trattoria in Coombs – an incredible Italian restaurant with an awesome patio. Fast Times Grand Prix is the fix for an adrenaline rush on the race track. Lastly,  Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Resort and Spa is the perfect spot to relax and take in the areas nature – not to mention steps from Rathtrevor Beach!
